Winner Of Mayor’s Environmental Award

At a gala evening on the 27th of August, this prestigious award for excellence in environmental work was presented to the South African Shark Conservancy for their innovative use of underwater cameras to obtain data on the species and conditions in Walker Bay.

Wilfred Chivell, the winner last year, was also highly commended for the ground-breaking work he has done in the use of fin recognition in great white shark identification and estimation of numbers.

Whale Coast Conservation congratulates both these organisations for their work that will ideally lead to sound decision-making in the management of our extremely valuable oceans.
