Whale Coast Conservation was once again instrumental in three Overstrand beaches achieving Blue Flag status – Kleinmond, Hawston and Grotto – the last for the 11th consecutive year. This is a tremendous achievement of which we are very proud, not least because WCC is responsible for the environmental sustainability education programme which is one of the requirements for a blue flag. The educational programme, including the shark egg project, was on display at the national launch and after the ceremony Minister or Tourism, Marthinus van Schalkwyk, and Overstrand Deputy Mayor, Pieter Scholtz, congratulated the WCC team on their contribution to tourism.
