Whale Coast Conservation will be exhibiting at the Hermanus Flower Festival to be held in the Fernkloof Nature Reserve from 26 to 29 September 2013.
The theme is wetlands and the WCC display will use a ‘wetland in a bottle’ to demonstrate how wetlands work and the essential ecosystem services they provide. Two of our YES students, Denfred and Zöhn, are already hard at work under the watchful eye of John Cowan to perfect the bottle model.
Another feature of healthy wetlands is a healthy frog population. These two star students have also been participating with Sheraine van Wyk in the frog monitoring project in the wetlands on the Hermanus Golf Course. They will feature the results of the survey to date, together with frog calls and frog identification at the WCC stand.
If you have ever wondered what frogs are kicking up a racket in your garden or clicking down by the river, come to the WCC stand at the Flower Festival and let us help you to put a name to their cute faces and tell you some stories about these fascinating creatures.
