Why are wetlands so important?
· Its sponge-like quality allows water to be returned to the ground during dry periods. Wetlands supports many different wild animals and plants. They help to slow down the flow of water and prevent floods. They give open space and improves the value of property. Pollutants and nutrients are filtered (stay behind) when water runs through wetlands.
