Simon Nicks is Managing Director of CNdV africa, a firm of urban designers, environmental planners and landscape architects. He has a B.Com. (Natal) and BAS MCRP MCPUD (Cape Town). He is a registered town and regional planner and a member of several planning and design institutes, councils and associations.
He has worked on numerous urban planning projects with provincial and local authorities, including the Western Cape Provincial Government and municipalities such as Cape Town, Stellenbosch Knysna, Paarl and Wellington. He has also worked on urban development projects in Brazil, Denmark and Belgium.
His work is focused on methods of achieving “ecologically sustainable urbanism” and the integration of transport, housing and other urban developments in environmentally sustainable ways.
He has published a number of papers and received national and international awards including the WESSA Western Cape Environmental Consultancy Award. He lectures in several departments at UCT, including The Graduate School of Business. He is currently a member of the Western Cape’s Planning Advisory Board.
