The Tale Mountain Fund, an associated trust of WWF-South Africa, has funded the Small Grants Programme since 2013. In the first 3-year grant cycle, 18 small grants of up to 20,000 were awarded.

A new 3-year cycle of funding starts in November 2017. The Overberg Small Grants will be jointly managed by Whale Coast Conservation and Grootbos Foundation. Between them they will award 14 different small grants of up to R30,000 each year for 3 years, i.e. a total of 42 grants.

We​ ​are​ ​looking​ ​for​ ​projects​ ​with​ ​the​ ​following​ ​focus​ ​areas:

  • Sustainable​ ​livelihoods
  • Social ​ enterprises​
  • Conservation
  • Environmental​ ​education
  • Renewable ​ Energy​
  • Reduce,​ ​reuse ​ and​ ​ recycle​
  • Marine​ ​and​ ​coastal​ ​conservation

Applications​ ​will​ ​be​ ​adjudicated​ ​by a​ joint​ committee.​​ Only​ ​one​ application​ per​​ person/organisation​ is​ ​eligible​ ​for​ ​a​ ​grant​ ​of​ ​not​ ​more​ ​than​ ​R30 000.

Potential grant recipients are invited to a workshop on 7 November at the Green House (see invitation for details) which will help you to define your project and assist you to write a business plan for the project.
