The Hermanus Cliff Path stretches from the Klein River Estuary to the New Harbour, a distance of 12 km. It gives access to every one of the beautiful cliffs and coves from Grotto Beach through Voëlklip and Kwaaiwater to the Old Harbour, the Heritage Plain, Fick’s Pool and Rietfontein. Virtually every step along the way draws us into the natural beauty and historical interest of our town. No wonder it is identified as second only to whales as a tourist attraction. We all have a part to play in conserving the Path, especially those who have the privilege to live along it. A short series of articles over the next few weeks identifies the positive things all of us can do to conserve our Cliff Path. It also conveys information about what we should not do, either because it is illegal or because it spoils the Path for everyone else.
