In the past three years, the Provincial Department of Agriculture has been sending teams to work on Reserve removing alien invasive plants. These teams working together with the staff of Whale Coast Nature Reserve have been constantly doing the clearing in order to restore the fynbos’ biodiversity at the nature reserve.
The team consists of men and women who work five days a week on the mountain removing alien invasive plants (AIP). About 25ha of the mountainside has been cleared of AIPs with a follow-up that is currently underway since March 2023.
