Many plants and animals are found in and around aquatic ecosystems. These plants and animals depend on one another for food.

When two or more food chains come together it is called a food web. Ponds (below) may exist for just a short while, during the rainy season, or may continue to exist for years. Organisms adapt and many animals will either migrate(move to another habitat) or die.
