Fernkloof Nature Reserve
Whale Coast Conservation calls all keen hikers and/or frog enthusiasts to help us on three days during the Hermanus Flower Festival (22-25 September) to find ‘Moses’ the Moss Frog. You will have an opportunity to hike into the Fernkloof Nature Reserve to help with a survey of the endemic Drewes’ Moss Frog.
During the Festival there will be 3 conducted hikes with WCC during which you can help with a count of the (male) frogs calling on that day. Your survey results will be added to the data collected in July 2016.
1. Saturday 23 September 10h00-12h00: Red Route for any hikers, including children
2. Sunday 24 September 10h00 – late: Galpin Peak for serious hikers.
3. Monday 25 September 10h00 – 12h00: Three Dams route for moderately fit hikers, including children.
Booking is essential for these citizen-science hikes as numbers are limited by the terrain. There is no extra charge – just your R25 entry to Fernkloof. Email firstname.lastname@example.org or book at the WCC exhibit in the marquee at the Festival where you can also find out more about this project.
