AGM 2014

About 60 members and guests gathered at the GreenHouse on 9 September for WCC’s 12 AGM. We appreciate the support shown by Mayor Nicolette Botha-Guthrie for WCC’s work. Chairman Jamie Hart outlined the aspirations and future plans of the organisation, especially in developing activities that will result in an income stream to make the organisation less dependent on grant funding.

The present Board members all continue for the next term of office. We thank them for their considerable contribution to our activities over the past year and look forward to an even better year. Two additional members were voted onto the Board. Roy Moulton was elected to the position of Treasurer and will take active control of the WCC’s financial planning and management.  He retired last year after a management accounting and financial management career with Coca Cola, Consol Glass and recently La Vierge. We are confident that his appointment will result in the development and implementation of a business plan that will provide a solid foundation for direction to accessing funding opportunities.

Margaret Cunningham has many years of experience serving on various committees and raising funds for charities. We are delighted to have her on board.

Rob Fryer presented the audited financial report. He was pleased to report that the organisation is financially healthier than it has ever been, but that real challenges lie ahead when the Sustainability Awareness Project funded by the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund comes to an end at the end of 2015.
